Win a copy of The Heavens & the Earth Christian colouring book
I love being creative. My home is full with paint, pens, pencils, pads of paper…. I’m often making or drawing something.
Today, I share with you a recently published book called – ‘The Heavens & The earth: Colour your way through the Bible’s most beautiful verses’, by Stu McLellan.
Adult colouring books are big news. You only have to type this phrase into Amazon, and up come 4,287 results. When I was invited to review a new Christian colouring book, I leapt at this opportunity, as I know many of you also enjoy this activity.
The following, is my review of the colouring book, with an opportunity for you to win a copy 🙂
The book is illustrated by British artist Stu McLellan. He describes finding inspiration – ‘where the Bible meets every day life, such as the flowers of the field, the embrace of a friend, the glory of the landscape…’
The book is square and large in size, bigger than I had initially thought at 24.8 x 24.9 cm.
It has a clean, fresh, inviting feel, with a variety of illustrations on the front cover, to give you an idea of what you can expect when you peel back the pages.
It is obviously a labour of love, where a child of God seeks to convey his love of God’s Word in creative form. It encourages you to slow down, reflect, and pray.
Stu invites us to join him in his journey of going deeper in our worship, as we meditate on God’s Word colouring in the shapes and forms he has drawn that complement the chosen Scripture. The Bible verses used are based on the New International Version Bible Translation.
There are a variety of things to colour in, such as landscapes, animals, flora and fauna, buildings and so on… It even has some postcards in the back that you can colour in, cut out, and send to friends.
Even though the book is aimed at adults, I think teenagers and children would enjoy it too.
You could use this book in a number of ways –
- to just colour in and relax after work
- to help you decrease your anxiety
- to help you in your pain management
- to provide you with a creative outlet when suffering with depression
- to help you de-stress before bedtime
- to use as a part of your quiet time with God, as an act of worship and prayer, reflecting on His Word and creation
Here is an example of Stu’s illustration that I have coloured in
I used a variety of tools to colour this in – pencils, pens, and some crayons to add some texture.
I personally love the book and hope many purchase a copy.
