“You were created to make God recognizable to others
– to show others what God is like.”
Sharon Jaynes, A Sudden Glory, P. 9
I have been thinking a lot lately about the big question, ‘purpose’. Regular readers will know that in the words of Dorcas Lane from the BBC drama Lark Rise to Candleford – that this, ‘is my one weakness’, apart from, like Dorcas, that’s not my only weakness, by far.
In a bad moment I will struggle with what I was created for, my purpose… time and time again it comes back and hits me, in the worst possible way.
Do you struggle with your purpose?
I am very secure in my relationship with Jesus, He is my everything. But there are still those potholes of insecurity that the enemy likes to lay before me every now and then. I have the occasional blip where I feel like I have gone back about 30 steps, do you ever feel like that?
Then I hear the whispers of Jesus, saying –
‘Come to me, I love you. I have a perfect plan and purpose for you, in your weakness.’
In a world where weakness is seen negatively, I am a great believer that great strength can be seen through weakness. I prefer being weak, to be honest. This just means I have to depend on God more, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses,
so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT
As I came before God and lay down my insecurity before Him, He shows me great love and comforts me with His great compassion. My tears of yesterday, are an important part of who I am today.
A part of my purpose is to show how God can use us in our weaknesses. How He is there by our side through it all. How I can show what God is like; through my weakness and dependency on Him for everything (Jn 15:5).
‘I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.’
Psalm 57:2 NLT
How wonderful, how glorious is our God.Who has a perfect plan and purpose for each of us. How He is patient with us, and knows us so well that He walks by our side and gently guides us each step we take, in the way we need Him the most.
I am created to make God recognizable to others, to show what God is like, you are too!
Please join me in prayer:
Lord, I thank you for Your perfect purpose and plan for my life.
May I shine brightly for You.
May others see You through my great weakness.
Please may they see what You are like through me.
For Your glory
