‘Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise
He is to be feared above all gods.’
1 Chronicles 16 23-25 NLT
As I was reading 1 Chronicles 16, I couldn’t help but be full to overflowing, with thankfulness to my Lord!
In our walk with our Saviour, for what He has done for us, our hearts and lips need to proclaim the great and glorious news that He saves!!! Do I hear an Amen?
In response to the gift of life how can we not worship our LORD for each new day that He blesses us with? The first thing that should be on our lips is proclaiming His Good News – telling everyone about the amazing things He has done and is doing.
‘Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.’
1 Chronicles 16:8-9 NLT
The Importance of thankfulness
In the busyness of life, sometimes it can be easy to get lost in the pressure; feeling like many things are bombarding us, pressing us down. I have been learning that particularly in these times, it is even more important to shout His praises. As we focus on the many blessings and His wonderful provision in large and small ways, our eyes are lifted, and our praise fills our heart with godly joy.
If we don’t shout His praises, share what He has done for us, how can other’s come to know what a great God we have? Our thankfulness points them to the throne of grace, to meet with a Saviour who loves them more than they could completely understand! Joy and thankfulness are catching. People are drawn to it, they want it! As we know true joy from the LORD can not be found anywhere apart from in His presence.
What I am thankful for this week
On Monday I felt like hitting my head on a wall (yes painful), I was tired, and concerned that my computer wasn’t working; I really needed it to work. I lifted it up in prayer, and my husband and a friend of mine stood with me in prayer… I felt a bit ridiculous praying about computer software, but then as I prayed, God reminded me that if it is important to me, He wanted to know about it. Hours and hours went by, I didn’t know what to do, as it was a really bad time for me to think about needing to get a new computer! As I tried to take deep breaths and step away from it for a while, I thought about what an amazing tool the computer is. It’s on my list of important things I own; yes on the grand scale of necessity it would be at the bottom of the pile, but God blessed me with this tool for creativity and writing for Him a few years ago, and He showed me this again as I came to Him in prayer for help.
The words leapt from the page -
‘…Publish his glorious deeds among the nations…’
I chronicles 16:24 NLT
This is what God has called me to do, whether it’s for sharing what God has placed on my heart for my devotions etc… or for my little business – creating flower cards to brighten someone’s day; praising God for His amazing creation. So, as I searched for help from God, He helped me like He has done countless times before!
For nothing can stop the Good News from being proclaimed from my lips or hands as I type
Some of the other things that I am thankful for are :
- How God saved me – praising His name daily!
- How I have my loving Saviour by my side, every step of the way.
- For His help when I am struggling with pain.
- For answering my prayers for some people I have been praying for.
- My family and friends.
- For God’s provision, while we wait for a job for Matt.
- For the beauty of the flowers in the garden, and the birds that visit us daily …
- For you!
I absolutely love that whatever we are going through, God always speaks to us through His Word and through prayer.
What are you thankful for this week?
You may be going through a very tough time right now, where sadness, pain or troubles are weighing heavily on your heart. I invite you to take some time today and find just one thing you are thankful for – it is truly amazing that when we thank our Lord and praise Him for His blessings, we also receive His strength; our perspective changes to seeing our circumstances as an opportunity to see God at work in our lives.
I realise that I will probably need to get a new computer soon, but for now it’s working, and I am praising Him for that – thank you Lord!
There are many, many things I am thankful for. Today, I will be spending time with Jesus going through each one, will you join me?
‘Give to the LORD the glory he deserves!
Bring your offering and come into his presence.
Worship the LORD in all his holy splendour.’
1 Chronicles 16:29 NLT
Let’s pray
Dear LORD, thank you for saving me, you are worthy of so much praise.
I worship you in all of your holy splendour.
Today I thank you for …….
May my life reflect what you have done for me.
May my heart and lips glorify you with praise, even through the tough days.
Help me Lord to have a thankful heart, to sing of all you have done, and share your Good News.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

My eyes fill with tears when I think of all God has done for me and blessed me with. It always amazes me how He orchestrates things and His plan is always perfect! Today I am thankful for my blogging sisters, for the opportunity to help my elderly neighbor during a life changing event. I have learned that when we become self-less and help others around us we in turn are truly blessed! Thanks Anita, for these encouraging words!
Thanks so much for your comment Dawn
My eyes fill with tears too, as I consider all that God has done for me. There are no words to truly express it, is there!
I join with you, as we lift our voices in praise to our Saviour.

I sometimes have a tendency to dwell on negatives in my life, but when I take the time to truely think about what He does and gives to me daily, it sends me to knees in thankfulness.
Today I’m thankful for God healing the empty spot I had been carrying around in my heart for so long.
My husband and all that he does for me.

Hi Salina,
Thank you for your comment – I know what you mean. I am trying to focus more on the blessings that God gives me, rather than the negative.

I am so grateful to God for my beautiful children. He has blessed me always giving me exactly what I needed at the moment I needed it. Today, my special thanks is for my newest best friend, Beth Moore and my Big Sisters.
Hi Janie,
Thank you so much for your comment
It truly is amazing how blessed we are, by God’s grace isn’t it
I’m reading Beth Moore’s Insecurity book at the moment, it is such a blessing; as it peels away the layers, for God’s light to shine through.
