‘I have told you these things so that you will be whole and at peace.
In this world, you will be plagued with times of trouble, but you need not fear;
I have triumphed over this corrupt world order.’
John 16:33 The Voice
So how are you today? What kind of week are you having?
I’ll be honest I’m going through a tough time.
As Jesus taught us, in this world we will experience times of trouble. I am so thankful we have Jesus to cling onto.
When we find ourselves lost, struggling against the tide that is threatening to pull us under, Jesus is always there.
As the storms rage, one Word commanded by the Author of Life, causes the seas to calm and be still.
When the world does it’s best to make us feel worthless, Jesus shows us the cross and empty tomb.
Where do you go in the dark times?
- Do you go to the bottle, looking for the answer at the bottom?
- Do you go to the cigarettes, breathing in a temporary calm?
- Do you take it out on your loved ones?
- Do you head towards the nearest supermarket to get your latest food fix?
- Do you go for a spot of retail therapy?
- Do you punish yourself wishing you could disappear?
- Or are you sheltering in the safety of God’s arms?
Even if we have been Christians for a long time, if we don’t keep an eye on the things that make us stumble, we can end up leaning on the very things that bring us more harm.
When tears fall from our heart, like a never ending stream, our Lord cries with us.
‘And when they suffered, God suffered too;
And the messenger of His presence acted to save them.
Out of enduring love, compassion, and concern,
God Himself rescued them. Through all those years long ago,
God picked them up and carried them through.’
Isaiah 63:9 The Voice
As we depend on the One who defeated death, who experienced agony on our behalf, for love. Let’s keep our focus on the Hope of the world, when we feel like we are sinking in the quick sand of hopelessness.
When we are at our weakest point, we can rely on the strength of our Lord, who will never forsake us.
When the world tries to overcome us, our answer is in the Son of God; Jesus overcame the world for us.
Let’s pray for one another
When Jesus was overwhelmed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He called on His friends to watch and pray.
You are invited to leave a comment below with a prayer request. Please invite your friends to join in. There is power in prayer, in the name of Jesus. I want to latch my shield with yours.
let’s raise each other’s needs to the One who bends down from the heavens to hear our prayers.
Please join me in prayer
Lord, thank You that You overcame the world. You are our Redeemer, Hope, and Peace. We come before You today, and ask for Your help. Where we are weak, please be our strength. Please meet with us where we need You the most. We bring to You our worries, the things we are battling through. May Your peace touch us in our hearts and minds, and look to Your for help, as we are sit in Your presence. Please lift our heads, shelter us in Your arms of love, and provide what we need through the storm.
In Your name,
Amen
What are you thankful for?

Anita – Would you please pray for my friend Helen, who is going through a particularly low patch at the moment. She is disabled with many serious conditions and is also upset about a close friend who has terminal cancer. He needs prayer too. His name is Mark and he has a tumour on the bottom of his spine, which is affecting the use of his legs. He has an operation booked in April, but is too weak at the moment.
I’m thankful that I was able to take communion to Helen yesterday – and that I am fine! I’ll pray for you too.
Sending much love and hoping to see you in June.
Pat xx
